Using local produce - information on recipes

Seasonality

Soft FruitIf you are buying fruit and vegetables from local producers, it is important to know what grows when. Most farmers are only able to supply fruit and vegetables in season. The real benefit of this is you get fresh and very tasty produce.

Many people have forgotten or don’t know how to plan for seasonality. Big Barn has a section on which fruit and vegetables are in season and when. It also includes ideas for recipes.

The report produced by the Youth Hostel Association on how to make food procurement more local also contains suggestions for catering recipes.
