Feed your passions
As
canoeists, cavers, climbers, hang gliding and para-gliding pilots,
hill-walkers, or mountain bikers we actively seek areas of high
quality landscapes in pursuit of our interests. We depend on
good relationships with local people, landowners and farmers
to protect, maintain and improve the landscape and provide the
infrastructure we need for a quality experience; accommodation,
cafes, pubs and shops.
One way we can help is to use these facilities and provide
income to the local economy. We can increase the value of this
support by buying local produce (see; What
is local), or supporting businesses themselves which buy
local produce, for example buying meals which include locally
grown or reared ingredients. By doing this we support farming
practices that contribute to preserving the landscape and help
to keep money in the local economy providing greater stability
(see; local spend helps).
On this site we provide you detailed information on:
• Local food suppliers in the Brecon Beacons National
Park.
• How to access information on local food in other areas
of the country.
• Where you can get more information on local food and
produce initiatives
So by Feeding your Passions you are helping:
• The retention of landscape characteristics and biodiversity
that draw tourists and visitors to the area.
• The rebuilding of the local economy, by ensuring that
money spent locally is retained to the benefit of local people.
• To retain flourishing rural communities. People judge
their worth through their work and when self-confidence is high
share it with others, including visitors.
